Lora said I was born in 63, always remembered this book fondly, yet never found it for my now grown kids I was born in and remember this book from when I was learning to read.

When I read this to Caroline's group, I asked what they thought about everyone smelling the cheese deeply And I learned my first english words from his story. Alexia- It was a fun book and the rhe was creative to make up all those animals.Also the illustrations are really good, you find yourself lingering on each page looking at the illustrations. It's not that the illustrations are particularly special I thought it was saying that the cat was chasing the dog - which didn't match the images or my conception of the usual interaction between cats and dogs. A friend recommended this as one of his favorite books as a kid, and I can definitely see why kids would have a lot of fun with it. After the mice are all gone the Cats start to annoy the king and he is not happy, so he calls the wise men in again and the solution is dogs. The dogs chase out all the cats and then the king is still unhappy because he now has to live with all the dogs and he wants them gone.
