I highly recommend this book. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on your summation. Alongside this is the story of Evie, and it is the mystery surrounding her - plus her contributions to the Jodie investigation bzd that really drives the story. Both have layers that were interesting to see slowly peeled back. The cloth sellers place it outside so that their potential customers can have an idea of what is inside the boutique.
I found the story line initially interesting. Welcome back. Other editions.
